Sivert Haugen Bjørnstad, born in October 1990 and aged 23, is the youngest
member of Stortinget (the Norwegian parliament) for the time being. He is a
politician for the Progress Party (FrP). He joined Progress Party's Youth (FpU) in
2005. Since then he have been the chairman of FpU in Trondheim and Sør-
Trøndelag and deputy leader in Sør-Trøndelag FrP. He was elected to
Trondheim City Council and Sør-Trøndelag County Council in 2011. In 2013, he
was elected to the Norwegian parliament and sits in the Standing Committee
on Education, Research and Church Affairs. He studies economy at BI
Norwegian Business School in Trondheim.
In many countries around the world, it is almost impossible to come to this level at Sivert’s age. In this unique salon meeting, Sivert will meet the Chinese and Indian students at NTNU and share his life as a politician. This meeting is not about politics or Sivert’s political standpoints but focuses on how the Norwegian system and society engage their young people. Through the story of Sivert’s career, the audience can probably get some insight.
North Star Communicating Salon is a platform for information exchanges among the Chinese students and scholars at NTNU. The main purpose is to enhance exchange and sharing of multidisciplinary researches. At the same time, the salon also pays attention to the cultural and social development in China. In recent years, the salon has invited several Norwegian speakers to talk about their culture and lifestyle. http://nscsntnu.blogspot.no/
Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) and Indian Student’s Forum (ISF) are partners of this event, together with Sør-Trøndelag County Authority.
